I know most people out there tend to adopt kittens or very young cats when they select a new feline friend, but what about the senior cats?
There are plenty of those oldtimers in shelters looking for a loving home and you know that they will appreciate every second they get to spend with a human in a safe and loving home.
Okay, that’s my soapbox speech for the day.
The main reason you’re here today is to look at some adorable photos of senior cats that are wholesome and should really make your day…unless you don’t have a heart.
Take a look and enjoy!
1. Is this adorable, or what?
These two are in love.

2. A real senior lovebug.
What a cutie!
Walked into the shelter and asked which cat had been there the longest… came home with a deaf, toothless senior lovebug. Reddit, meet Cali!

3. Falling in love.
I think he missed you.
We adopted an 11-year old cat from a Chicago shelter. He and my 13-yo daughter fell in love. This is them after she got back from a week at camp.

Look deep into those eyes.

5. The best decision you ever made.
I like the looks of this guy.
2 years ago today I walked into a Petsmart and met a cat named Sonny who no one would adopt because he was 13 years old, covered in fleas, underweight, and had a mouth full of rotten teeth that had to be removed. He came home with me that night and it was the best decision I’ve ever made.

6. Grandpa and his sidekick.
Two old men hanging out.
My Grampie and his 20 year old cat/sidekick Elvis. As my Grampie says, “we’re just two old men hanging out”. This picture makes me happy and sad all at once.

7. Leave them alone, they’re having a moment.
I think you can classify this under “wholesome.”
My 1.5yr old son and 14yr old cat had a moment this morning.

8. Wow! He’s seen a lot in his years.
That’s pretty incredible.

10. Now she has a new home.
You still got some years in you.
My grandpa passed away on Thanksgiving and no one would take his 18 year old cat… So we did. Welcome home, Lovey!

11. Don’t try that with me!
Too late, it’s already working.
When your cat is pushing 20 years old, but can still pull off that innocent baby look.

12. This is insane.
31 years old? How is that possible?!?!
Tiger is 31 years old, and is still a prime example of the ever loving box and cat relationship.
