Do men really think that they have the market cornered when it comes to nerd culture?
I know some ladies who could give any guy a run for their money when it comes to movies, TV, and comic books. No doubt about that, my friend.
For some reason, some guys feel superior to women when it comes to nerdy books, games, comics, video games, etc., which we all know is totally ridiculous.
This tweet from a woman named Shayna Moon (who happens to work for Sony) got a bunch of other women talking about this phenomenon.
Today I was wearing my sick as hell metallic playstation shirt and a dude at a store asked me if "I even play playstation" and *then* when I told him I worked there he proceeded to tell me he's been looking for a job.
Bad move my guy.

Let’s see what other women had to say about this…
1. What’s a computer?
lmao
Once when wearing a Steam shirt a guy asked me ‘if I even play computer games’ then I asked him what a computer was. He just walked away.

2. Turning red.
I was looking at video games at Target when a guy and his girlfriend walked up. The guy said “She’s probably looking for a gift for her boyfriend”.
Then I turned, revealing my Nintendo polo and my name tag because I was there.. working for Nintendo. Boy did his face turn red. ?— Blair Castle (@blair_d_castle) March 10, 2020
3. I’ll leave without purchasing anything, thank you.
I went into a comic book shop a couple days ago while wearing my Insomniac shirt. A guy asked if I knew they’d made “a comic book game” and didn’t seem to buy that I’d played it. When I said I worked there, he asked if I was looking at comics to “catch up.”
I didn’t buy anything.— Mary Kenney (@maryknews) March 10, 2020
4. Ignored by the guys.
I worked at EB – now GameStop – back in the PS2 era. The amount of men that would ignore me, ask my male co-workers about a game, get redirected to me (because I knew my shit), and then ask the OTHER guy working (with the same result) was staggering. So infuriating.

5. That’s mine.
I once ordered a PS4 (for myself) & when I went to collect and pay for it, the dude asked my bf what he was going to play on it.
He said: “Don’t ask me, it’s my gfs PS4.”
The guy laughed, kept asking him about FIFA and handed him MY ps4. pic.twitter.com/XLQgWfJPV3

6. Let me educate you…
I had some kids try to make fun of my for wearing a Playstation jacket because “Xbox is better than PS4” so when I told them I agreed but this was a PS1 jacket and regaled them with the whole history of gaming consoles and how I worked in games professionally they shut up

7. Can’t play ’em all.
When I worked at a video game store, a guy came in and asked if I played Metro 2033??? And I said no I haven’t and he got angry and started saying I shouldn’t work there if I don’t play games.
Bro you think I got time to play all new releases to please losers??

8. Can’t be yours, right?
A coworker walked up to me a little while back and said “I noticed you had a PlayStation shirt on the other day..was that actually your shirt or just your husband’s?” And then proceeded to give me a videogame pop quiz while I was trying to work. ?

9. Mansplaining is no good.
There is a guy in my local pokemon go group that mansplains EVERYTHING to me. He even tries to correct me in what type pokemon are, weaknesses, etc. He didnt even play the main games, meanwhile I have played all of them. I’ve told him this multiple times. It doesnt matter.

10. What makes you say that?
one time a guy said “i guess you probably don’t play video games huh” just sort of in conversation
i was wearing my Hyrule Crest sweatshirt.
— WHOA!! HEY!! DON’T TOUCH ME (@doodlemancy) March 11, 2020
11. Don’t test me.
I have a react sticker on my laptop and one of my friends asked if I even knew react code.
Me: “I made my website with react.”
Him: “I just know you only learned to code this year so I wasn’t sure.”
…
My man, I wouldn’t put the sticker there if I didn’t know what it was— Kendall Priebe (@TigerShark8980) March 10, 2020
12. Showed him.
once I was getting some trash pizzas from little caesars and the guy at the register goes “oh you like PlayStation?” I told him I worked there and he looked disappointed and said “oh… I just thought maybe you like, liked video games or something haha”

These ladies know their stuff and they’re not about to be talked down to by some men who clearly overstepped their boundaries.
Has this ever happened to you or someone you know?
If so, please tell us about it in the comments!
