It’s the most wonderful time of the year!

No, I’m not talking about the Christmas season, I’m referring to the spookiness of October and the greatest holiday of them all, HALLOWEEN.

And a baker named Jessica Clark-Bojin really nails it with her pies during that spookiest time of year. Her work is absolutely incredible and, being a fan of all things Halloween-related, I have to say her spooky pies are by far my favorites.

And, as Clark-Bojin says, “no matter what it looks like in the end, you always come out a winner because you get to eat it!”

I’d say that’s definitely true! Let’s take a look at her spooky works of art!

1. Don’t eat me!

Sorry, too late for that…

2. Let the witch tell you your fortune.

This pie represents the dark arts.

Pusheen the Witch can see your future… and it’s full of Pie! Hooray!?? ⠀ When the fabulous @luxeandthelady suggested we do another themed collab for Halloween-time, I was totally down! She always picks the cutest subjects, and did not disappoint this time with her suggestion that we each create a “Halloween Pusheen Treat”. My son loves all things Pusheen (they even have a Pusheen Club at his school) so he was a big fan of this pie too! Unfortunately I don’t have a photo of him eating it because he got super upset when I thoughtlessly stabbed Pusheen through the heart in taking out a slice ?‍♀️ (Major mommy fail!) ? ⠀ Head on over to LuxeAndTheLady’s page to check out her spooky/cute Pusheen offering! I love cute characters at Halloween time, but I’m also partial to horror flicks and a bit of gruesome terror too… Where do you fall on the Halloween spectrum? Do you go for the cute costumes, sexy costumes, gory costumes, or funny/punny costumes? ⠀ #pusheen #ilovepie

3. Over the Garden Wall.

This is so cool!

View this post on Instagram

“Over the Garden Wall” is not only one of my favorite Halloween-time shows, it’s one of my favorite shows period. ??? It’s beautiful, haunting, silly, charming, spooky, nostalgic, and well… just plain old good stuff. It is wholly unique, yet familiar at the same time and I enjoy it just as much as my 7 year old does ? Staring the voice talent of Elijah Wood, the young and very talented Collin Dean, Christopher Lloyd, John Cleese, Tim Curry, Shirley Jones and many more you’ll recognize and have on the tip of your tongue! ⠀⠀ Plot-wise it’s about a neurotic teen, “Wirt”, and his annoying/weird/cute little brother “Greg” finding their way through a fairytale forest called “The Unknown”. They meet colorful characters along the way, sing some songs that will be stuck in your head for days ( ? Ohhh potatoes, and molasses…?) and learn about life. If you are looking for new family holiday viewing to add to your traditions, I highly recommend tracking it down – you can buy/rent it on YouTube, but I’m sure it’s available other places too. ⠀⠀ Thank you to everyone who suggested Over the Garden Wall for my Halloween baking! Tell me what you love most about the show in the comments below – fave character, song, moment? ??? I’ve got room for about 4 more Halloween pies in my baking schedule – what shall I make next? Lay it on me! ⠀⠀ #overthegardenwall #itsarockfact #pumpkins #otgw #otgwgreg #otgwwirt #monsterpie

5. A tribute to Coraline.

Check out the detail on this one.

6. Who wants a Slimer pie!

I think we all do…

View this post on Instagram

Let the Halloweening begin with my first spooky pie offering of the season- a “Slimer” apple/cherry fakeout pie! ??? This pie is actually two pies in one- I made a 1 inch thick cherry galette (made to look like a full pie) with some “slime holes” cut out of it, and sat that on top of a full green apple pie. Slimer is also made of pie pastry, and “slimed up” with a bit of corn syrup. Swipe to see how it was made! ⠀⠀ Big ‘ol props to pie-oneer @cor98004 for suggesting the Ghostbusters theme! ? Now! What’s my second pie going to be? You tell me in the comments below! ⠀⠀ And don’t forget to submit your own entry to the #HalloweenPieArt challenge – just use the hashtag, tag me in the description and post your spooky pie any time between now and Nov 1st and you might just win some lovely pie art decorating supplies courtesy of @kitchenjukeboxinsider! ⠀⠀ #ghostbusters #slimer #applepie #halloweenfood

7. Here’s to The Dark Crystal.

Very cool!

View this post on Instagram

Those of you who know me well, know that Jim Henson and Brian Froud were two of my biggest artistic inspirations growing up… which is why I was so thrilled that YOU GUYS overwhelmingly voted for me to make “The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance” the subject of my next pie! ?⚔️?‍♂️ Seriously, it wasn’t even close. I got hundreds of great suggestions but the one that came up over and over again was “something from Dark Crystal!” Not only am I pleased as punch to get to create this humble homage to one of my favorite shows (on Netflix now – go watch it!) I’m so happy to know that so many of you love it too! The use of real puppets and sets is just so special. To know that these worlds actually exist and can (in theory) be visited in real life makes me happy. Visiting those sets one day is my dream… ? ⠀⠀ I started making the Gelfling character “Deet” out of modeling chocolate (with a malt ball eye) but I didn’t have any green chocolate paint to tint her skin, and also decided she needed a more defiant expression so I switched her to “Brea.” So we’ve got Brea’s coloring and expression on Deets features ? Bit of artistic license! I’m happy with how the Skeksis Chamberlain turned out though – he’s just pie crust painted with gel color mixed with vanilla extract. ⠀⠀ Have you seen the show yet? If a “Jim Henson World” theme park existed, what fictional locations would you just love to visit – The Pigs in Space set? Labyrinth? Fraggle Rock? Sesame Street? Farscape? The Muppet Babies Nursery? Let me know in the comments below, and thanks for all your great pie suggestions! ⠀⠀. #jimhenson #darkcrystal #brianfroud #lisahenson #wendyfroud #pieart @darkcrystalofficial @hensoncompany #ageofresistance #jimhensoncompany @netflix #thra #thedarkcrystalageofresistance #skeksis #gelfling #pie

8. Paying homage to The Joker.

Hahahahahaha. So cool!

View this post on Instagram

Now Joker can throw a pie with his face in your face! Check out the full making of video for this pie I did for @foodnetwork over on their page… Any pie I get to use sparkles on is a good pie ?✨? and you know I had a blast going nuts with all the HA HA HAs! ? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Have you seen the new movie with Joaquin Phoenix yet? What did you think? I’m normally a Marvel Zombie, but I’ve always had a soft spot for the Joker – some of my favorite graphic novels of all time are Joker ones… he’s such a deceptively simple character on the surface but there’s so much mystery under the hood… Some of the most fascinating Joker stories are actually from the POV of his “faceless” henchmen and how his reputation and presence affects the Gotham underworld. He’s been around for decades and decades in over a dozen iterations, but I never get tired of spending time with him (and Harley)! Lemme know who your favorite Joker is below! (I love them all, but I think I gotta give it to Mark Hamill… ?) ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #joker #batman #applepie

9. Nintendo fans will recognize this guy.

It’s almost too pretty to eat…almost.

At last the Mushroom Kingdom has its revenge! ? Toad is taking matters into his own hands and will make short work of this Bowser cherry pie… ?? ⠀ I thought this was a fitting pie given that Doug Bowser was just named president of Nintendo America ? ⠀⠀ We’re definitely a “Switch” family and I really love playing Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle with my son… digging the new direction Nintendo is going with these crossover titles! ⠀⠀ What’s your favorite Nintendo character/game? Let me know in the comments below! And let me know if you’d like me to post the making-of video for this pie too ? ⠀⠀ #nintendo #toadstool #mushroomkingdom #bowser #koopa #nintendoswitch #supermario #supermariobros #cherrypie #videogames #supernintendo #retrogaming #fanart #familybaking #marioparty #cakedecorating #cookiedecorating #piecrust #piesofinstagram #eatmorepie #ilovepie #monsterpie

10. Day of the Dead.

Simply amazing.

View this post on Instagram

Happy Halloween, All Saints Day, and Day of the Dead! Be honest, have you eaten all of your kid’s Halloween candy yet? ??? Hope you enjoy my La Catrina-inspired pie… I had a ton of fun making this one and trying out some new dough coloring techniques to achieve this antique-y look. All the deets will be in tomorrow’s making of stories! ⠀ If you and your Pie Art loving buddies aren’t following my feed yet, now might be a good time to take the plunge… ? I’ve got an exciting giveaway announcement coming next – the largest I’ve ever done – I can’t wait to show you all the goodies I pulled together for you! 11. This is very intricate.

And it looks delicious.

View this post on Instagram

We’re goin’ for Baroque on this one… ?(ha! I’m pretty proud of that ?) Using a series of food safe silicon molds and my new extremely sharp and thin Pen Blade, I wanted to experiment and see just how much tiny detail I could coax out of pie pastry. I’m pretty happy with the result… I kept it monochromatic so we could see the textures and sculptural bits and bobs more clearly. I think it’s a cool technique for folks who aren’t too sure about color on their pies but still want to “bring the bling” to their holiday potlucks this year. The nice thing about using the molds to create dough appliqués is that absolutely anyone can do it and you’ll get a super classy result every time. Spooky but classy. What do you think? Would you have a go at using a fondant/gumpaste mold to decorate your pies? I have a tutorial on the @wiltoncakes page showing exactly how to do it if you’d like to try! ? ⠀ Now! What shall I make next? Tag a friend who’s into the spooky stuff and you guys tell me! I promise I’ll pick one of your suggestions for the next one. ??? ⠀ Edit: for those asking, the shading is done with @wiltoncakes brown gel food color mixed with vanilla extract, applied with Wilton food safe brushes, the appliqués are made in Wilton gumpaste molds & other molds from Amazon, and the shapes are cut out using a #15 @penblade. … #edibleart #foodfun #pietraits #piesareawesome #thepieous #pieart #piegoals #thesugarfiles #piecrust #bakedgoods #baker #gloobyfood #cupcakeproject #feedfeed #artfood #fooddesign #playwithyourfood #dessert #eatmorepie #tastemademedoit #beautiful #beautifulfood #foodart #halloween #halloweenpie #baroque #thanksgivingpie @penblade @wiltoncakes #monsterpie
