All of us are surrounded by hundreds of objects, and many of them are unremarkable. When you walk past the same manhole covers, street lights, or fire hydrants over and over, you eventually stop seeing them entirely. But one street artist is trying to change how we see humdrum things by transforming them into whimsical scenes.

His name is Thomas Bobrowiecki, but on Instagram he goes by Tom Bob. Over the years he’s racked up over a hundred thousand followers with his playful transformations. Typically, he shares the before and after to highlight just how a mundane object like an abandoned piece of construction equipment gets turned into a caterpillar or a Pac Man ghost. Most of his street art is located in his home of New York City, but in recent years he’s branched out to other cities, and even other countries.

Below, you can check out a selection of the best of Tom Bob’s creations, originally compiled by Bored Panda. His lighthearted work will definitely give you a smile, but it might just make you see the world in a whole new light.
