Finally, You Can Buy A Slush Puppy Machine For Your Home

If you were a kid in the 90’s, nothing quite evokes the feeling of summer like the sickly sweet taste of blue raspberry, followed by a brain-freezing blast of crushed ice. The Slush Puppie was a staple of convenience stores, movie theaters, bowling alleys–heck, my elementary school even had one.

But if you find yourself longing for a real Slush Puppie, and not a Slurpee or some other inferior knockoff, LONG NO MORE! Because now you can buy an actual Slush Puppie machine for your home.

Slush Puppies are still very much available in stores. Slush Puppie Corp was sold to Cadbury Schweppes in 2000, then again to J&J Snack Foods in 2006. But this is the first time you can whip up a Slush Puppie in your own home.

The Slush Puppie maker, which is made by Fizz Creations and sold by ASOS, is an officially licensed miniature version of the classic machines that froze our young brains. The machine can make up to a liter of Slushie, and retails online for $95. (Though it’s currently sold out.) Which is a marked improvement–before this, if you wanted to buy a Slush Puppie machine for your home, you’d have to fork over at least $1,200.

Unfortunately, the Slush Puppie package does not include the cups or the syrups, so you’ll have to buy those separately if you want the full experience. (Recommended.) And yes, there are way more flavor options than the three pictured below. Slush Puppie has been steadily adding new varieties since we were kids, and now offers flavors like dragonfruit and pomberry açaí.

You could also use your machine to make any number of other frozen drinks, but that’s like buying a Corvette just for trips to the mall.

Speaking of flavors, did you ever wonder why in the hell it’s blue raspberry? The blue was added to differentiate that flavor from their other red flavor, cherry. So now you can stop hunting for an elusive blue raspberry bush.

The people of Twitter were ecstatic to hear that Slush Puppies now has an at-home version.

So if you want a machine of your own, hopefully you know someone at ASOS because there will be competition once they’re available again.

Now, if only we could get everyone to communicate solely via fax machines, then the 90’s would be well and truly revived.
