It never ceases to amaze me when I hear horror stories from folks who work in corporate America…
Especially ones where they are treated poorly after they’ve been with a certain company for a long time.
It’s really sad, but I don’t think any of us would say that it’s necessarily surprising.
And a man named Jeremy Joslin shared a post on Twitter about how he was unceremoniously dismissed by Google via email after working at the company for 20 years.
It's hard for me to believe that after 20 years at #Google I unexpectedly find out about my last day via an email. What a slap in the face. I wish I could have said goodbye to everyone face to face.

Joslin’s tweet went viral and it got all kinds of people talking about their similar stories.
One woman talked about how she found out she was being laid off.
I found out because I woke up to my phone sending me a notification that my phone service would be shut off soon. And all my corp account stuff was locked out. Saw the email later.

And this person commented about how shocked people are about mass layoffs because Google seemed like such a safe bet for job security.
People are in shock, being laid off and having bills, family, general how to live questions hit you in the face via an email is tough. People identify with their jobs and this feels like rejection and betrayal BECAUSE google seemed like such a safe bet.

Joslin was touched by how people reacted to his tweets.
Let’s hope he lands on his feet with a new job soon!
Wow. I’m sincerely touched by the amount of goodwill and support I’ve received on this post. Thank you🙏
I’m an introvert and tend to shy away from attention so this is new territory for me.
