As the son of a nurse, I can tell you that they’re a peculiar bunch. Nurses are exposed to the horrors of the human body on a daily basis, so not only does nothing shock them, they also sometimes forget that civilians are way more squeamish than they are. (Or, in my mom’s case, they’re fully aware of that and still gross you out anyway.)
I can’t count how many times an otherwise pleasant dinner was ruined by a vivid description of some patient’s infectious disease and the liquids that came out of them. (You are so lucky I’m not going into more detail.)
