Pets! We love them, and they love us. One of the ways they show us their love is by bringing us a gift, like one of their favorite toys, or a dead mouse. In fact, there are a lot of reasons besides love why a pet might bring you a gift–with dogs, it’s an instinct, it’s a way of showing their approval, or it’s a stress-reliever. With cats, it can be a subtle hint that you need to step your hunting game up.
Just like people, some animals are great gift givers, while others…well, they give it a shot. Today via Bored Panda, we’ve got a selection of the oddest things pets have brought their owners.
So the next time your cat brings you a freshly killed rodent, just remember, it could be a LOT weirder.

3. The Giver

4. We all have off days.
“My sister’s cat brought in another ‘dead’ bird. Or so they thought.”

“Our cat won’t stop bringing home sponges!”
8. The Con Artist
“Meet Henry. He presents me with this toy mouse every morning claiming a successful nights work.”
9. Roll Initiative!
“My mighty hunter brought me her trophy, aka one of my D&D characters.”
10. His bite is worse than his bark.
“An elderly couple owned this house before me, and I think maybe [the dentures] were theirs. They may have changed their dentures and buried this one in the backyard. There’s no other explanation, because I know it’s not ours.”
11. Sausage Fest
“He stole this from an unknown neighbor’s BBQ.”
12. Sucker
“Friend is a new mom, today her dog brought her this.”
13. Lips for days

14. Happy Birthday!
“My wife and I started feeding a stay cat. He likes to bring us presents, normally a dead mouse or a chicken bone. Today he showed up with this. No idea where he got it.”
15. Oh My
“This guy broke broke into my dorm room a couple of months ago. I have been feeding him a lot, taking care. He is still a stray cat since we can’t own pets, but he just visits often. And today he brought me this FREAKING SQUISHY WILLY.”
