We’ve said it before, but we love it whenever someone adds a little humor to life–particularly when it’s for the benefit of the general public. Funny people are doing the Lord’s work, and one of our favorite ways these heroic humorists operate is when they use the sign for their business to post jokes for their community to enjoy. Like the guy who updates the sign at the Indian Hills Community Center in Colorado.

Well now we have another sign comedian to share with you: the folks who run Wallingford Sign, a message board outside a Seattle Chevron station. They’ve been making Seattleites laugh since 2005, back when the gas station’s repair shop was converted into an ExtraMile convenience store. “Suddenly we had a problem. It had always been easy to think of useful messages to put on the sign for things like service promotions and store specials and the like,” they explain on their website. “But with the ExtraMile, there were no more cars to fix and the place was plastered with store specials. So we decided to do something different.”

They began posting weekly jokes on their sign, and the community’s response was overwhelmingly positive. Since then, Wallingford Sign has gained worldwide notoriety for their funny messages.
