Car crashes are awful, but we love how this person responded to her recent accident. Originally reported by Bored Panda, this story is a great example of how to stay positive in the midst of a difficult ordeal.
Shelby Pagan, is a 25-year-old nurse living in Boston, who posts on her @coffeecatsandcurses Instagram page. Last August, her car ran out of gas on the highway and she pulled over to wait for help. That was when another car collided with her vehicle at 55mph.
She was taken to the hospital with several injuries. “I was treated for cervical strain, closed head injury, head laceration and knee contusion. I participated in physical therapy for a few weeks and have recovered,” she told Bored Panda. “I consider myself lucky to have walked away from the accident relatively unhurt and alive.”
Once the dust had settled, Pagan couldn’t help but notice how, despite some blood and a day’s worth of crying, her eyeliner game was still on point. She posted a police photo of herself shortly after the accident:

Not bad, all things considered!
The eyeliner in question was Kat Von D’s Tattoo Liner, which, according to the product description, can be relied on for 24-hour coverage and “bulletproof” lines. And it looks like they weren’t exaggerating.

Pagan was so pleased with her eyeliner that she wrote a glowing review on the company’s website, along with the accident photo for proof.

That would have been the end of the story, until last week when a Twitter user named @guadalahari spotted the review and Tweeted a screenshot. It promptly went viral, racking up hundreds of thousands of likes and retweets.

Pagan was amused to see the worldwide reaction to her photo. “I think the reaction is comical and in all good fun,” she said. “I definitely never in my life thought I would become a meme! I originally reached out to Lahari to tell her it was me. Her post was pretty damn funny, although no one likes being the butt of a joke, it’s something I would have done. If you can’t laugh at yourself what is your life?”
