The world was shocked when it was announced that Lisa Marie Presley passed away on January 12, 2023, at the age of 54.

The daughter of the late Elvis Presley and Priscilla Presley, Lisa Marie had carved out her own identity as an entertainer over the years but she was always best known as the daughter of the music legend.

Among those who appeared at the memorial service included Elvis star Austin Butler, Baz Luhrmann, the film’s director, Axl Rose of Guns N’ Roses, Billy Corgan of The Smashing Pumpkins, and Alanis Morissette.

But perhaps the most moving aspect of the day was the speech given by Priscilla Presley, Lisa Marie’s mother. Priscilla read the words of one Lisa Marie’s children and said, “I have no idea how to put my mother into words. Truth is, there are too many. Lisa Marie Presley was an icon, a role model, a superhero to many people all over the world, but Mama was my icon, my role model, my superhero — in much more ways than one. Even now, I can’t get across everything there is to be understood or known about her, but as she always said, ‘I’ll do my best.'”
