Shailene Woodley Opened Up About Her Split From Football’s Aaron Rodgers

Any breakup is difficult to deal with. The pain, the heartbreak, the misunderstandings. The list goes on and on.

Now, think about the bad experiences you’ve had when you went through breakups and consider how you would feel if that trauma played out in the public eye.

Especially if you were involved with one of the most high-profile athletes on the planet.

That’s what actress Shailene Woodley had to deal with during her recent split from Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers and now she’s opening up about how difficult the experience was for her.

Woodley and Rodgers started dating in 2020, got engaged, and it was reported that their wedding was called off in February 2022.

Woodley said that the public’s interest in her relationship was unsettling and said, “I’m a very private person, and so I found that any time I posted anything, I instantly felt like I was sharing too much of who I am with people I didn’t necessarily trust.”

After their 2022 split, Woodley began working on the film Three Women and said, “It was hard to film because I was going through the darkest, hardest time in my life; it was winter in New York, and my personal life was sh**ty, so it felt like a big pain bubble for eight months. I was so grateful that at least I could go to work and cry and process my emotions through my character.”

Woodley said she removed Instagram from her phone after her breakup and added, “I’ve always loved getting older, but it’s almost like I feel an exhale; I’ve been waiting so long to experience not giving a f**k about what other people think about me and my life and the choices I make.”

She added, I’m so excited to continue letting go of so many of the things that controlled me in my twenties; to really experience the joy of life in a way that, when you’re younger, is more difficult to experience — because it’s controlled by the way you were raised instead of the identity that you create as your own person.”
