Ryan Seacrest’s Exit From “Live” Has Been in the Works for a Long Time

All good things must come to an end

That goes for pretty much everything in life, including your favorite TV shows.

And the news of Ryan Seacrest leaving Live after six years has apparently been in the works for a long time.

The 48-year-old Seacrest has hosted the show with Kelly Ripa since 2017 and he said, “It was a tough, tough decision. Last year, we spoke and I made the decision to make this my last season as co-host with Kel, here, on Live with Kelly and Ryan, which is bittersweet.”

Seacrest was only supposed to host the show for three years but Ripa says, “But three turned into six because of the genuine fun of being on this television show every hour of every day.”

Addressing his departure, Seacrest said to Ripa, “I have to say to you as a dear friend coming in and as a best friend in this moment, to have your kindness, your thoughtfulness, your levity, your friendship — I look up to you, I respect you so much. I love the fact that we get the chance to sit here every day and connect with you at home in your kitchens, your living rooms, at work. There’s nothing like this on television.”

Ripa’s husband, Mark Consuelos, will step in as a replacement for Seacrest.
