I spent a good chunk of my time working in restaurants and for catering companies, so I feel what these folks are talking about when it comes to weird and rude customers they’ve had to deal with.
You get a cross-section of everyone when you work in restaurants, bars, or other service-related businesses, and boy, are there some beauties out there!
Let’s take a look at some memorable customer interactions that service industry workers had.
1. Okay, weirdo.
Out you go!
A 60 year old man once came into the shop and said to me ‘do you run?’ I reply ‘sorry sir?’ He then repeats himself ‘do you run?’ Confused I say again ‘sorry sir what do you mean’ and he just hits me with ‘a bit of running everyday and you’ll get the weight off!’ https://t.co/nSlvWWLtOm

2. Bedazzled shoes.
Can I return these?
one time a lady wanted to return a pair of shoes because she was sold ‘two left feet’ and as she put them on the counter she said ‘sorry i already bedazzled them’ – they were covered in hot glued gem stones AND they were a pair, right and left foot…

3. Go light on the lettuce.
I said not that much lettuce!
one time my mom got a guy complaining about his cesar salad… he said there was too much lettuce in it

4. What are you trying to say?
He seems very normal.
the time a man came in on christmas eve looking for a skirt for his wife’s present so i brought him to our skirt section and he was like “all of these are too short, are you calling my wife a SLUT?” and then proceeded to shout at me until i burst into tears lol https://t.co/eF7bOEj0JT

5. Threw it at the wall!
Wow. Way to overreact, dude.
(drive-thru) An old guy ordered coffee, simple enough. i gave it to him and he asked if i could put ice cubes in it to cool it faster then gave it to me. I put in some ice cubes then gave it back to him. He looked at it, started cursing, and threw it at the wall, then drove off.

6. Yes! I love this!
Should’ve done your research, Granny.
Working at a movie theater. A Grandmother buys 3 tickets for Magic Mike. I’m thinking to myself, “Good on ya!” She comes out of the theater 20 mins later LIVID because she thought it was a show about a magician named Mike…that’s why she brought her 2 grandchildren with her.

7. Rude as heck.
Some people just don’t get it.
When I worked in kfc one time someone asked for Pepsi and I gave them it and they said I asked for diet and i was like Aw ok u didn’t but I can give u a diet and she went FUCK UP YA POOF :))) I was so embarassed coz I wasn’t even out as gay at the time hahahahh https://t.co/7DS2nZFbQ7

8. Bring out the scale.
Blew up in his face.
also some guy came in one day and demanded to speak to a manager bc he was sure his salmon wasnt 8oz like the menu said it was, next time he came in and brought a SCALE WITH HIM, called my manager over while he weighed it and it was in fact 8oz…. i don’t think he’s come back

9. Hahahaha. Wow.
She sounds a little bit paranoid.
One during a rush at Denny’s a woman accused me of not refilling her coffee fast enough because I hated her baby.

10. Overdoing it just a bit.
Keep ’em coming!
I was working for Houston’s as a server: this family of 6 (2 parents & 4 kids under 8) ordered 6 steak entrees. No problem. The problem was the 3 Caesar salad apps they got; it comes with free anchovies. The Dad continuously asked for BOWLS of the fish. 9 times!

11. Pepsi is gay?
I had no idea!
I was waiting tables and a woman yelled at me because we served Pepsi. She demanded water instead because she didn’t want her money going “to the gays”.
I gave her 2-dollar tip to my fellow server, who was gay. Her money ended up going “to the gays” after all

12. Death threats.
And all over THIS.
I once got death threats as I was closing the shop up because I’d apparently blocked someone in with my car.
It was weird because:
1) It wasn’t my car
2) I took the train to work
3) I don’t own a car
4) I can’t drive.— Alan Bennett’s Tekwar (@DrudgelmirMusic) July 7, 2020
13. Different store, lady.
Wow. People really are THE WORST.
Rudest- worked at a craft store, woman came in with merch from a different store and tried to return it w us (in a bag from the other store, receipt and everything). When I told her we couldn’t take it back bc not from our store, she threw a literal tantrum for like…45 minutes
