Mass shootings are an epidemic in America and, unfortunately, it seems like things are only getting worse.
And when a mass-shooting survivor appeared on American Idol, his story caused Katy Perry to have a very emotional reaction as she acted as a judge on the popular TV show.

A 21-year-old man named Trey Louis competed on American Idol and performed the song “Stone” by Whiskey Myers. After his performance, Louis told the judges that he is a survivor of the 2018 Santa Fe High School shooting in Texas that claimed the lives of ten people.
Louis said, “I lost a lot of friends. It’s just really been negative, and Santa Fe’s had a bad rap since 2018.”
The man’s story caused Perry to become extremely emotional and she said, “Our country has f**king failed us! This is not OK.”
Perry added, “You should be singing here because you love music, not because you had to go through that f**king bulls**t. You don’t have to lose eight friends. I hope that you remind people that we have to change. Because, you know, I’m scared, too.”
Co-host Lionel Richie said, “We have tolerated this for so long, too long. It’s become the norm.”
