Elvis Presley passed away all the way back in 1977 at the age of 42, but his legend lives on and one can make the argument that he’s more popular than ever these days. And it seems like The King’s name constantly pops up in the news…and here’s another example.
Elvis was known for his love of flying and his best-known airplane was his trademark “Lisa Marie” plane with “TCB” (“Taking Care of Business”) etched onto the tail wing.
But Elvis also had a 1962 Lockheed 1329 Jetstar plane that has been sitting in the desert at the Roswell International Air Center in New Mexico for almost 40 years.
And the private jet sold at auction in January 2023 for $260,000.

The jet has a lot of damage from sitting in the desert for so many years, but the interior showcases Elvis’ style at the time.
Elvis bought the plane in December 1976 for $840,000 and used it and two other private jets to transport his band and entourage around the country for concerts.
Besides the ’70s furniture, the jet also features some vintage technology, such as a VCR and a cassette player by RCA.
Check out the video of the auction below where none other than Priscilla Presley herself oversaw the proceedings.
