I feel like I’ve become a pretty light traveler over the years and I kind of have it down to a science.
My brothers and sisters and my parents have always been pretty spread out around the country, so I’ve become used to packing a light bag with only the essentials when I go to visit any of them in various states.
But not all people are like this…in fact, some people just don’t understand the concept of packing light and they have to bring multiple bags filled to capacity for a two-day getaway.
It drives me nuts!
But, what are you gonna do? To each their own, right?
Just stay the hell out of my way and let me do my thing, okay?
Here are some hilarious overpackers who I think need some serious help.
Let’s take a look.
1. They might not have this…
So take it just in case…
*casually packs kettle, tea, sugar, mug for day trip including two hour dinner with one (1) overnight hotel stay in highly developed area in Central Europe an hour from home*

2. Pack it all in.
And don’t forget any of them!
Home: wash face with ivory soap. Pack: every skin care sample I’ve ever gotten that’s smaller than 3 oz.

3. Preparation is key.
You might pick up some hobbies along the way.
Me: *has barely any hobbies*
Me, packing my carry on: “I will take these 14 books on pottery, and this French phrasebook because I really need to brush up on that even though I’m just going to Philadelphia, and also this crochet hook in case I want to learn how to make doilies”

4. Don’t question me!
Just let me live my life!
Love the questioning when I’m checking in at the airport. “How many sets do you have in here?” And my favorite “Are you moving?” #overpacker

5. They probably won’t have drug stores where you’re going.
I just have a hunch about this.
Also, empty out entire medicine cabinet into suitcase, as surely there will not be a CVS on every corner.

6. It really is a sickness.
Can’t take that risk.
It’s a sickness. I must prepare for every possible scenario or risk being miserable & I am not willing to take that risk. #overpacker

7. Great idea!
You’re really gonna WOW them.
I’m on my way to a conference of zookeepers and brought 3 tubes of mascara (2 of which are new, still in the package)

8. And I hope you read all of them.
I do overpack books. I will admit that.
SAME.
a few years ago I arrived in Brussels for a month-long work trip and when I unpacked realized that I’d brought this pile of books with me. ??
naturally I had tripled the pile by the time I went home ??? pic.twitter.com/0G1DYwp0M5— Greg Howard (@howagreg) April 6, 2018
9. A frying pan?
Okay, that’s cool, I guess.
Plus shoes! Dont forget the shoes! And rain gear, snow gear, swimsuits (just in case), hats – lots of hats – perhaps a pillow or two… maybe a frying pan and coffeemaker….

10. What is wrong with you?!?!
You clearly have a problem.
I have some weird ass idea that I should start a new vitamin routine every time I go on a trip. I pack them in their little go case and unpack them right before the next trip when they are all gooey and slightly bursting their casings…what is wrong with me..?

11. You never know…
Might as well bring it along.
“Surely a hotel won’t have THIS” -Me, packing a hair dryer, every single time
— Mara “Get Rid of the Nazis” Wilson (@MaraWilson) April 27, 2017
12. BRING IT ALL.
There’s nothing wrong with you. Keep repeating that in your head.
me usually: i will wear one outfit today and read a few pages of a single book
me packing: each day will demand a casual, formal and In Case Of Spillage ensemble and i need at least THREE books for the hour plane ride and I will arise at 6 to lift weights and must bring equipment— Alexandra Petri (@petridishes) April 6, 2018
13. Let’s go on a vacation!
You talk to your clothes, too?
No I didn’t “overpack.” I just wanted all of my clothes to feel like they took a vacation.
