Can You Even Handle These Purposefully Uncomfortable Objects?

These days, people seem to throw around the term OCD in a manner that doesn’t refer to the clinical diagnosis. That upsets people who suffer from the disease, or love or live with someone suffering, but here’s the thing: there are a lot of people in our society without clinical OCD who still struggle to see a crooked picture without fixing it. They eat their plate of food one item at a time. They check that their house is secure each night in the exact same order, and have to go home at least twice to make sure the garage door is down.

Which is to say, brains are weird things, and you never know when they’re going to insist that an object in front of you just cannot be right.

Which is where The Uncomfortable – a collection of “deliberately inconvenient everyday objects” by Athens-based architect Katerina Kamprani – enters the fray of humanity.

A little scroll through these items may help you determine your level of, if not true OCD, discomfort with things not appearing exactly as they should.
