It’s hard to see any legendary Hollywood tough guy get older, and Bruce Willis’ health issues have been tough to swallow for his many fans.
The actor’s wife, Emma Heming Willis, revealed that the longtime action star has been diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia.
The 67-year-old Willis’ condition was announced by the family in 2022 but Emma Heming Willis says that her husband’s condition has sadly deteriorated since then.
Emma Heming Willis said, “Since we announced Bruce’s diagnosis of aphasia in spring 2022, Bruce’s condition has progressed and we now have a more specific diagnosis: frontotemporal dementia (known as FTD). Unfortunately, challenges with communication are just one symptom of the disease Bruce faces. While this is painful, it is a relief to finally have a clear diagnosis.”
Frontotemporal dementia causes the front and temporal lobes of the brain to shrink and can lead to problems with speech, emotional issues, changes in personality, and a loss of motor skills. The condition usually worsens over time.
Willis’ wife added, “Bruce has always found joy in life – and has helped everyone he knows to do the same. It has meant the world to see that sense of care echoed back to him and to all of us. We have been so moved by the love you have all shared for our dear husband, father, and friend during this difficult time. Your continued compassion, understanding, and respect will enable us to help Bruce live as full a life as possible.”
We wish Mr. Willis well! He’s played a big part in our pop culture universe for many years and has created a lot of great memories.
Now we want to hear from you.
