The catastrophic train derailment in East Palestine, Ohio that took place on February 3, 2023 continues to be big news as residents of that area still have doubts about the safety of the air and water.
And a TikTok user who lives in Ohio. shared a video that shows her milk sizzling as she poured it into her coffee. In the video, the woman warns people who live near East Palestine to not drink water from the tap.
The caption of the video reads, “I don’t think this is normal… I’ll try again once I buy bottled water & see if it sizzles.”

And you better believe that people on TikTok had thoughts about this.
One person said,
“For the people saying this always happens.. Not once in working at coffee shops and making coffee at home has this happened to me.”
Another viewer added,
“Dairy is a base and reacts to the acid that’s in the water now. That is not a normal reaction to clean water and if your creamer is doing it no drink.”
And one TikTokker commented,
“I don’t think I’d be drinking anything but bottled water if I lived in Ohio.”
The woman who posted the TikTok video was asked whether local residents have been told to drink bottled or tap water and she replied,
“So far we’ve been told both.”
