Some travel destinations are known for their famous landmarks, their fabulous cuisine, or their vibrant nightlife.

But the town of Szczecin, Poland has a different kind of highlight for visitors…

The town’s top-rated tourist attraction is…wait for it…

A chonky cat named Gacek, which means “long-eared bat” in Polish.

And, here’s another thing: Gacek gets a five-star rating on Google Maps and that’s even higher than the town’s Pomeranian Dukes’ Castle, which dates all the way back to 1346.

Gacek first showed up on the streets of Szczecin about ten years ago and has became a popular fixture since then.

A 2020 documentary about the cat became a viral hit online with millions of views and since then, people have come from all over Europe to see Gacek and his famous wooden box where he likes to snooze.

Owners of a nearby shop look after Gacek to make sure all his needs are met.
