I think everyone should work in the service industry at some point in their lives so they can know what it feels like to wait on people.
In my experiences, most people were fine but there are always a few who stick out because of how terrible they were in one way or another.
Service industry workers sounded off on Twitter about rude customers and you’ve ever been there, some of these stories might look familiar to you.
1. Out of donuts.
A natural reaction to that news.
One time I told a lady in the drive-thru that we were out of raspberry doughnuts and she backed her Hummer up and tried to crash into our menu board before hitting the protective pole and destroying her bumper

2. I want your skin…
I mean, I love your skin…
Weird but not weirdest: this elderly lady was staring at me from across the store and eventually approached me and slowly, without blinking, stroked my cheek saying “I love your white skin” (working in a cosmetics store)

3. Can’t you just guess?
Seems reasonable.
A customer got mad at me because they said their iMac wasn’t working and I asked them if they brought it with them. They said no. I told them I can’t troubleshoot a computer that isn’t here and they got mad at me and stormed out of the store. https://t.co/silOl7NDuX

4. Too many pumps.
Hey, lay off!
A regular at our Starbucks loved the iced peach green tea. Over the course of 6 months she went from an extra pump to 20 pumps. I’ll never forget the time I handed her the drink, she immediately started sipping it, then looked up and screamed, “This only tastes like 19 pumps!” https://t.co/2TuCKXcTKr

5. That’s better.
Like you know the difference…
i work at a restaurant & a table asked for a carafe of decaf coffee (been working at this restaurant for over 2 years & the coffees are pretty obv labeled) & i brought one out & this karen said she “had a feeling” it was regular. brought the same carafe back. “much better”

6. Please don’t come back.
A mutual breakup.
last week my store got a beautifully hand written letter from a customer who was angry that we support blm, and she explained in detail all the reasons she is racist??? at least she ended the letter by saying she won’t ever come back

7. I’d walk away, too.
Don’t ever snap at someone.
I was working Customer Service desk one day and I started to serve a customer, his phone rang which he immediately answered and then started clicking his fingers at me and signalling that he wanted a pen. I just walked away.

8. Totally reasonable reaction.
Dad sounds like a little kid.
some dad pouring his soda all over the table when his food was late. i had to clean it up and i am just the cashier with no control over his food

9. That’s what you get when you help people?
What a jerk.
at the farmers i paid for a customers drink cause he couldn’t afford it n he called me a cunt and kicked off for showing him up in front of a lass he was grafting https://t.co/5CKhmglZLa

10. Are you scared?
Yes. Yes, I am.
In holylands spar a customer went to get change from their pocket and lifted out a handful of seeds and was dropping them everywhere, she then proceeded to shake more seeds away to reveal money, I go I’m not touching that and she goes ‘you scared? You scared of a little seed??’ https://t.co/oHbsLQ8D2Y

11. Weirdest customer ever.
At least he was entertaining.
a man once came in with a strobing flashlight, shined it in my face and asked if I was epileptic, I said no, and then he asked me if I knew any albinos, I said no and then he said he recently met a nice albino groundhog that liked bananas. He did not order any food

12. Get the hell out of here!
That makes a lot of sense.
I mean I guess there was the woman who refused to let me serve her because I’m left handed
— Megan (@DJ_Spangles) July 5, 2020
13. What’s your number?
This is weird.
a woman threatened to get me kicked out of highschool when i said she didn’t have a reservation and then her husband (even after i told him i was UNDERAGE) still asked me for my number
— libby luvs 1D (@wallcwing) July 1, 2020
14. Not surprised at all.
Give yourself a good tip!
I once had to serve Harvey Weinstein. He barked orders at me and only tipped 5 percent on a black card. But I wasn’t in the mood and adjusted it to 30 percent https://t.co/Ypg95lrtRN
