Getting pregnant is obviously one of the most life-changing experiences a person can go through, but it’s also a stressful time, full of hormones and quickly oncoming responsibilities. This might be why maternity photos are so popular. The whole pregnancy experience can be a blur, but maternity photos help preserve the memory.

But what about the father? Shouldn’t he have a version of maternity photos for himself? Despite the answer to that question clearly being “No,” dads have come up with one anyway, or at least a parody version. They’re being called “man-ternity” photos, and they showcase the closest thing a dad has to a baby bump: his beer gut. The trend has become popular enough that a German brewery even used it for a series of ads.
