14 People Shared the Weirdest Rules They Had to Follow While Growing up

I thought my parents were really strict when I was growing up, but I guess I really didn’t have it TOO bad when I look back on it now.

In high school, they were pretty lenient about what I did in my free time as long as I got good grades, had a job, and didn’t get into any trouble with drugs or alcohol.

So I pretty much had the freedom to roam around the Kansas City metro area (even on school nights) as long as I kept up my part of the bargain. Hey, it wasn’t a bad deal!

People took to Twitter to talk about the weird and strict rules they had to follow when they were growing up.

Let’s see what they had to say.

1. Jesus is not a fan of shorts.

Still unclear about this one…

2. That’s crazy.

Kids can’t even think 15 minutes into the future!

3. No Barney!

That evil purple monster!

4. Very strange…

No Disney? Okay…

5. Off to bed you go.

But, only you…

6. Okay, Boomer…

Midnight’s not a bad high school curfew, though.

7. No nicknames!

This house sounds like a lot of fun.

8. No advertising.

Your parents sound a little paranoid.

9. Now you can’t see!

That doesn’t seem very productive.

10. Military rules.

You’ll thank them later. Maybe…

11. Bad words.

Not in this house!

12. Only three shows a week?

I don’t like the sound of this…

13. Don’t leave Dad out.

You don’t want to bum him out.

14. NO FUN.

This whole thing sounds very weird.

Now it’s your turn!

In the comments, tell us how strict your parents were when you were growing up.

We can’t wait to hear from you!
