Sometimes, no matter what you do, life is filled with so many indignities and frustrations that it can make you wonder how you’ll keep going. But every once in a while, the universe gives us a gift that makes life all the more worth living. This is one of those times.
The Post-Journal is a newspaper with a circulation of about 20,000 subscribers, and it’s based in Jamestown, New York. (Home of Lucille Ball!) This past Saturday, the Post–Journal ran an article from the Associate Press, about the recent career of Julia Roberts. The AP was asking Roberts to reflect on the different roles she’s been getting now that she’s turned 51, highlighting her recent turns in the movie Ben Is Back and the Amazon show Homecoming.
If you’re a fan of celebrity journalism, you can probably guess everything in the article without needing to read it. Unfortunately for the Post-Journal, the headline editor was not paying attention that day, and a typo made the story sound much different.
If you need me to explain why that’s funny to you, it means you’re a seven-year-old who stole their parents phone to read this. Put down the phone and get back to your multiplication tables!
The next day, the Post-Journal ran a correction that fixed the headline.
But by then, the story had taken on a life of its own. All across the Internet, people were delighted by the typo about America’s Sweetheart and her holes, and they had many, many, MANY Tweets about it. Below, you can check out 15 of the funniest responses. Who knew that changing just one letter could lead to so much magic? (via Bored Panda.)
